The Barça coach is 18 games without defeat dating back to August

El Txingurri went 17 games unbeaten with Espanyol in 2007-08

Ernesto Valverde continued his successful start to life on the Barcelona bench on Wednesday. While the play has not been as shimmering as in other seasons, the results keep on coming. Against Juventus, Valverde beat his best ever unbeaten run as a coach as Barça's goalless draw extended their unbeaten streak to 18 games.

The best run registered by Valverde before was with Espanyol during the 2007-08 season, when the Pericos went 17 games unbeaten, scoring 27 goals and conceding 17. That run began on Sept. 25, 2007 against Sevilla (a 2-3 win at the Pizjuan) and ended on Jan. 13, 2008 when they were beaten 1-0 by Almeria.

With Barça, Valverde's 18 game streak has seen 43 goals scored in favour and just five against. The run began against Real Betis in La Liga on Aug. 20, 2017 and is still going. El 'Txingurri' has built a solid team that knows how to keep possession and defend together.

The number of five goals conceded reveals the team's strength at the moment and the demands made by Valverde in terms of defending. In addition, the streak with Espanyol featured 10 wins and seven draws, while the current run with Barça included 15 victories and just three draws. Valverde will hope to strecth the run to 20 games with upcoming fixtures against Valencia and Real Murcia.
