BARCELONA WIN THE LEAGUE AND CUP DOUBLE
Barcelona are unbeaten in the top flight and won it on Sunday with a 4-2 win at Depor
There were tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Deportivo went down to the second division, and Barcelona won La Liga.
Their victory in Galicia, thanks to Leo Messi's hat-trick mostly, saw them lift the title for the 25th time and complete the double after their Copa del Rey triumph last weekend.
Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a sublime curling finish, with Luis Suarez setting up Messi, as he did for all three of the Argentine's goals, as the Catalans went 2-0 up in the 38th minute.
Depor came back with a goal from Lucas Perez two minutes later as they tried to fight to stay in the Spanish top flight.
Emre Colak's goal pulled them level and looked to threaten Barca's final title tilt, but Messi took control as he invariably does, striking twice more, both beautiful goals, both set up by his Uruguayan pal, and the team could finally celebrate their season's work.
