The war between European football’s big sides to capture new talent is beefing up. Each time more and more money is being spent on boys who have not even emerged onto the international panorama.

Increasing knowledge of the market is needed to nab these gems early. Jean-Clair Todibo is one of these players. Just turned 19, he is about to become a Barcelona player.

Something curious considering he has had just half a season playing for Toulouse.

However Barcelona noticed him for his unusual footballing quality at such a young age, and his contract which ends on June 30.

The circumstance has created conflict between the player and his club and they have dumped him out of sight in recent weeks, even though the coach Alain Casanova brought him through and likes him.

Todibo, represented by bs&Partners, is annoyed with the club, because they want to sell him to Manchester City who have offered four million euros.

Barcelona know their interest in the French Guyana defender has caused problems and they want to reach a friendly agreement with Toulouse that satisfies all parties.

They are willing to pay 2m euros plus incentives for the player who would then join the squad immediately.

Once the deal, conducted by Oscar Grau and Eric Abidal, could even see Todibo stay on loan at Toulouse until the end of the season, or loaned to a La Liga club. Soon we will see…
