Barcelona turn their attention back to Monaco right-back Vanderson

The Brazilian defender is one of the names on the table ahead of the summer window

Vanderson de Oliveira Campos, Monaco's Brazilian defender, is one of the names that has been gaining ground in recent weeks at Barcelona, who continue to work quickly in the search for a top-level right-back to be incorporated next summer.

The former Gremio player, who will turn 22 in June, is already fully aware of the renewed interest of the Blaugrana, who, last August, already made a first attempt to sign him.

At that time, Mateu Alemany called Monaco to ask a price for the player at the suggestion of Deco, Joan Laporta's external adviser, but his club asked for €60 million, which signalled the Ligue 1 side's refusal to part with a full-back who had been signed only eight months earlier, in January 2022.

Barça have been watching the Brazilian's progress all season in the principality, in a season of ups and downs in which a knee problem has left the right-back out of action for more than four weeks.

Vanderson is liked because the coaches consider him to have a 'Barça profile'. He is a physically powerful player, fast, with an offensive vocation, very technical and defensively balanced. He is the classic Brazilian full-back. A 'plane' who would fit in perfectly with Xavi Hernandez's understanding of the game.

In the next few days, the player's agents are expected to be present at the Ciutat Esportiva to define what strategy can be taken in case Barça step up their interest.

Barça are doing the same with Vanderson as with the rest of the candidates who have entered the 'final casting' at right-back. Closing a salary agreement (which is decisive considering the constraints of the Financial Fair Play) and determining the tactics to follow if it is necessary to pay a transfer fee, as in this case, will be key. Without the complicity of the player, Barça would focus focus on other names.

The competition for Vanderson is very strong with names that excite: João Cancelo (at odds with Guardiola and who would come on loan from Man City through Jorge Mendes); Juan Foyth (the Villarreal World Cup winner who was already on the table last summer); Benjamin Pavard (represented by Pini Zahavi, the same agent as 'Lewy'); and the Belgian Thomas Meunier (who Jordi Cruyff likes so much).
