The game had been up in the air after the league requested it be postponed

Finally, Sevilla vs. Barcelona that was due to be played on Saturday art the Sanchez Pizjuan has been postponed following a back and forth between LaLiga and the RFEF.

The Spanish sports council (CSD) on Tuesday announced that the game, along with Villareeal vs. Alaves, will not go ahead due to a clash with South American World Cup qualifiers.

Sevilla and Villarreal were both due to be missing three players this weekend due to the matches in South America. Barça would have been without Ronald Araujo.

LaLiga's original request to call the games off was rejected by the RFEF, leading to an appeal, with the CSD ruling in the league's favour.

However, the postponement does throw up some problems, given it will now be difficult to find a new date for Sevilla and Barça to play the match.

Both teams start their Champions League campaigns next week and there are not many gaps in the schedule.
