Barcelona suffer setback in negotiations to renew Dembele's deal
The Frenchman's camp are demanding more than Barça are ready to pay
Barcelona's hopes of renewing Ousmane Dembele's contract have suffered a setback on Wednesday. Diario SPORT has learned that the were moments of tension in a meeting between the player's agent and the club earlier in the day.
Dembele, who's out of contract on June 30, 2022, has already said 'yes' to the renewal, but his agents have tightened the rope: as of Jan. 1, they are free to negotiate with any club and their position in the negotiations is privileged.
Sources at Barça point out that the last meeting did not have the expected ending, something that represents a setback in the negotiations. Despite this, they trust that they can reverse the situation and find a way to resolve the Frenchman's future.

Barça hope that the hectic negotiations will come to a better ending in the coming days. The player is happy in Barcelona and is willing to be an important piece in Xavi Hernández's project.
The player would be free in the summer of 2022, but he and the club would have already made it clear they want to extend the relationship. The player's agents, however, are in the process of negotiation and their position is more reluctant.
