The Danish international has signed a deal until 2024, although he is expected to move on after six months

Martin Braithwaite is FC Barcelona's new signing after the club deposited his €18m buyout clause with LaLiga. The Danish international has signed a deal until 2024 and his new clause stands at an eye-watering €300m. The current plan is for Braithwaite to help Barça until the end of the season before moving on again in the summer.

The player's agent wanted to ensure he signed a long-term deal to protect themselves. Braithwaite is under no illusion that he's facing an uphill task to remain a Barça player beyond this season and his agent has already discussed a possible move in the summer where Barça would recoup part of their outlay.

Quique Setien gave his backing to the Braithwaite deal and, out of those options mentioned, was who the coach wanted to bring in.
