One of them will be female and Bartomeu has carried out the talks personally

Barcelona president Josep María Bartomeu has taken the decision to bring in two new board members. Conversations over the 'signings' have been carried out by Bartomeu personally and with maximum discretion. They will be made official at the next board meeting, this Wednesday.

However, the appointments will have to be ratified at the Socios Assembly which will take place on Saturday, October 20, before Barça's game against Sevilla. The club were waiting on the Champions League draw to be certain that game would be played on the Saturday. Four days later, Inter Milan will visit Camp Nou.

Of the two new directors (some have even suggested there could be three), one will be a woman, as Bartomeu has been keen to create a more balanced board since the departure of Susana Monje. Currently, only one woman is on the board, Maria Teixidor.

Bartomeu's been in no rush to add to his board despite the resignations of Monje (on November 26, 2016), Carles Vilarrubí and Jordi Monés (October 1, 2017) and finally Manel Arroyo (July 16, 2018).

Of the four resignations, three were from vice presidents, who carried a certain weight on the board. Bartomeu will reveal on Wednesday who will replace them and what their roles will be. For a while, it's been speculated that Enrique Tombas will take over a vice president on the financial side.
