Ferran Reverter got stuck into the club's financial wreck in the due diligence findings

Barcelona CEO Ferran Reverter presented the club’s due diligence results on Wednesday. He was critical of the work of the previous board, led by president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

One of the reasons for Barcelona’s millions of losses was the wages they were paying players, including to the extent that they covered 108 per cent of the club’s income.

The Barcelona CEO showed Messi, Griezmann, Coutinho and Dembele’s salaries were a big problem for the club. Those four players cost over 1.4 billion over four years, 300m euros a season. Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembele are three of Barcelona’s five most expensive signings of all time.

Reverter said other clubs of Barcelona’s size had a salary base of 30 to 50% lower than the Catalans.

He also complained that there was an inverted pyramid at Barcelona, where the older players got longer contracts for more money and younger ones were on shorter deals.
