Barcelona player ratings from 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo
Ousmane Dembele scored the first goal and Paco Alcacer the second, but Celta hit back both times
Marc-Andre ter Stegen 8 - Wore the armband and did amazingly to deny Maxi Gomez and Mendez. Could not avoid Aspas’ goal.
Nelson Semedo 5 - Hard for him to understand when to go forward and when to hold. Celta attacked down his flank.
Yerry Mina 5 - Can’t be easy starting in Vigo after almost two months on standby. His lack of action was evident from his performance.
Thomas Vermaelen 6 - Each time Celta attacked they looked like an army. He did all he could.
Lucas Digne 5 - Barely got involved in the play, avoided risks in attack. Not good, not bad and it wouldn’t be fair to ask a lot more from him.
Andre Gomes 3 - Barely involved and gave away the ball for the first Celta goal. Taken off early in the second after a poor first half.
Paulinho 8 - The leader in the centre of the pitch and gave an untried XI experience. The most dangerous player, struck the post and was involved in Alcacer’s goal.
Denis Suarez 6 - Started well but faded after that, albeit showing he deserves to play more than he has done.
Philippe Coutinho 5 - When the ball arrived he made things happen, although he lacked team-mates on his level and went off early.
Ousmane Dembele 5 - His goal opened the scoring but otherwise was a poor game for the Frenchman, with few things going his way.
Paco Alcacer 6 - Much more comfortable in the box than out of it, where he spent most of the first half - so he didn’t enjoy himself that much. Still set up Dembele and then touched in Paulinho’s shot for the second goal.

Lionel Messi 6 - Messi tried to offer solutions and order in a disorganised game.
Sergi Roberto 5 - Sacrificed himself by taking down Iago Aspas 10 mins after he came on.
Aleix Vidal 5 - The game didn’t give him much chance to get involved but he was enthusiastic.
Lució el brazalete y celebró la responsabilidad que ello supone evitando el gol de Maxi Gómez y de Méndez. Juegue quien juegue, la maquinaria alemana siempre responde. No pudo evitar el gol con el brazo de Aspas.
Le costó entender cuándo subir y cuándo mantener la posición. El Celta lo aprovechó atacando su banda. Necesita menos desparpajo y más orden. Jugó de todo sin acabar de jugar de nada en concreto.
No debe ser fácil salir de inicio en Vigo tras casi dos meses parado. Notó la inactividad y la falta de adaptación mostrando demasiadas dudas. Sufrió e hizo sufrir. Le puso ganas, eso sí.
Cada vez que el Celta atacaba, parecía un ejército. Solo ante el peligro, debió multiplicarse para cimentar la defensa blaugrana. Hizo todo lo que pudo.
Casi no entró en juego y, cuando lo hizo, fue poco influyente. Evitó riesgos en ataque, pero le faltó contundencia en defensa. Ni bien, ni mal, sino todo lo contrario. No sería justo pedirle mucho más.
Le tocó ejercer de líder en el centro del campo y ofrecer su experiencia ante un equipo inédito. Fue el más peligroso e insistió tanto que acabó viendo puerta con un gol compartido junto a Alcácer. Recuperó sensaciones.
Muy poco participativo, como si no hubiera jugado. No supo dar consistencia al centro del campo cuando el Celta apretaba, ni tampoco velocidad en la salida del balón. Primera mitad pobre y acabó sustituido al inicio del segundo tiempo.
Arrancó como una moto, dispuesto a reivindicarse. Fue de más a menos, pero demostrando siempre que merece jugar mucho más de lo que ha jugado hasta ahora. Perdió algunos balones, fruto de sus ganas de ser protagonista.
Cuando le llegaba el balón, pasaban cosas, dándole más ritmo a la jugada, pero le fallaron socios en un primer tiempo incontrolado y se fue marchitando hasta acabar sustituido.
El gol que abrió el marcador, de remate certero con la zurda, sirvió para indultar un partido escaso del francés, al que le salieron muy pocas cosas. No pudo acabar contento.
Se siente mucho más cómodo dentro del área que fuera de ella, que es donde pasó gran parte del primer tiempo. Así que no disfrutó demasiado. Pese a ello, asistió en el gol de Dembélé y acabó de empujar el remate de Paulinho al fondo de la red.
El partido pedía su entrada a gritos y Valverde le hizo jugar la última media hora. Ante tanto desorden, Messi intentó ofrecer soluciones, pausa y posesión al equipo.
Jugó once minutos, el tiempo que tardó en frenar el mano a mano de Aspas ante Ter Stegen y ser expulsado. Se sacrificó para evitar en aquel momento el posible empate del Celta.
Dembélé dejó su posición a Aleix Vidal, que tuvo un cuarto de hora para volver a sentirse futbolista. Puso ganas e intensidad, pero el partido no le permitió prodigarse en ataque.
