Barcelona open door for Nico Gonzalez to join Real Betis on loan

The midfielder will be allowed to leave again this summer despite the need for a deep midfielder

Nico Gonzalez will not play for Barcelona next season. The Catalan club have already informed the player's camp and the intention is to send him on loan again so that he has regular minutes and ends up fulfillng his potential.

The idea, even, is to be able to solve the issue before the pre-season and the Blaugrana already have a formal offer from Real Betis, who have also taken a position with the player, to agree a loan paying the player's salary.

Nico could be an option to occupy one of the deep midfield positions, but Barça's sporting department is more interested in incorporating a player in that position and will make every effort to do so.

The number of players in midfield is high and Nico would not have minutes so Barça consider that the best option is a loan and not a sale because they want to have the player's future under control.

Betis officially informed Deco, Barça's new sporting director, of their interest in Nico last week. And the club would not object as long as the player accepts the proposal.

In fact, Betis have already approached his agent, Jorge Mendes, to move forward in the operation and the player seems to welcome the possibility of playing in European competition.

Nico spent last season on loan at Valencia, but he was unable to perform at his best due to injuries and the tension that the club had to deal with during the season, flirting with relegation.

In a more stable project like the one at Betis, Nico could enjoy quality minutes in an operation that is good for all parties and that could crystallise in the first days of July.
