The Catalans chose not to sign Jubo but are keen on youngster Abe

Barcelona want to sign Hiroki Abe, according to various reports in Japan. It's explained that a representative from Kashima Antlers, the club where Abe currently plays, has received an offer from the Spanish champions.

The Catalan club are prepared to pay enough to cover the recision of Abe's contract with the Japanese side and the decision is now in the hands of the player himself.

In the case that the 20-year-old attacker opts to move to Barça this summer, he would join up with the second team and spend the season in Spanish football's third tier.

The youngster has already played 48 games in the J League, scoring four goals. In 2018, he was named Young Player of the Year and this summer he made his international debut in the Copa America against Chile.

Barça turned down the chance to sign Take Jubo this summer -- who instead joined Real Madrid despite his La Masia past -- but they could yet end up with a Japanese player at the club once again.
