Barcelona look for a drastic and quick solution to Samuel Umtiti problem
The French defender is not at all wanted at Camp Nou and they are trying to oust him
Barcelona have started to take drastic decisions about players who they don’t want at the club next season. Samuel Umtiti is one of them. They are meeting agents offering the players exits or substantial salary cuts, but with Umtiti are are two options.
One is to reduce his wage so he can go out on loan and get his career back on track .The player does not want to do that but the club can try and force the situation.
Olympique Lyon are interested, with Marseille doubtful over his physical state even though the coach, Jorge Sampaoli, is keen.
Umtiti has told the club that he wants to stay. He doesn’t care if he doesn’t get minutes and believes he’s recovering and can convince Koeman he is worthy of a place.
Barca believes he has to go, whatever happens, and think it would be good if it was to Italy for France, where he can play deeper with more support. They are going to try and force him out quickly, so he is not with the club in pre-season.
They’ve shown they aren’t joking, with the contract of Matheus Fernandes being terminated after he refused to go last year.
