Barcelona knocked out of Champions League in group stages AGAIN
Xavi's side were eliminated courtesy of Inter's win over Plzen
Barcelona will fall into the Europa League in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign for the second season running.
Xavi's side were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday when Inter Milan beat Viktoria Plzen 4-0 at the San Siro.
It's the first time since 1998-99 under Louis van Gaal that the Catalan side have failed to reach the Champions League knockout stages in two consecutive years.
It is the fifth precedent of elimination at this stage of the competition in the last three decades. Barça were previously removed from the Champions League in the first group phase of the 2000/01 campaign with Charly Rexach on the bench. In the consecutive years of 1997/98 and 1998/99, with coach Louis van Gaal, Barça were eliminated in this first phase.
