The Dutch defender could be an option in the summer but Juve are happy with him

Matthijs de Ligt’s future looks set to be a summer soap opera. El Nacional said recently the player was not comfortable at Juventus, where he is not playing as well as he hoped after leaving Ajax feted as one of the best potential defenders in the world. The Dutchman has become important to the club, earning his place as a starter this season, but it might not be enough.

However in Italy, Calciomercato and Tuttosport denied this today and say the player is not as unsatisfied as suggested and that Juventus are thinking of renewing his deal until 2025, with his current deal set to end in 2024. It would give Juve a good hand to play in any potential negotiations over his future.

Juve know he can bring in a lot of money if they sold him, with Barcelona one of various interested clubs. If a big offer comes they may consider it, although Juventus are content with De Ligt staying.
