Barcelona for now freeze the sale of Memphis Depay
The Dutch forward has impressed Xavi although the club might look to make money through him
It’s a decisive time for Barcelona. The club are trying to unblock themselves in terms of arrivals by selling players off. One of those who could leave is Memphis Depay. However, for now his departure is frozen as Xavi likes his versatility and thinks he could be useful if not all the arrivals he wants come.
The sports department had a debate about Memphis, although there are two options only. Renewal or immediate sale. He has a contract until June 30, 2023, and after that, he would leave for free. If Memphis is willing to renew, then as he is on a low deal, it would not pose financial problems.
Despite that, Barcelona know he’s also a player that other clubs like and could make over 20 million for him on the market. Arsenal and Juve have asked about him but everything is on hold, June will be key to find out his future.
