Barcelona eye a new director of football after Alemany exit announced
Cordón and Blanco are among the options to work alongside Cruyff
Barcelona had known for weeks about the possibility that Mateu Alemany could leave the Blaugrana at the end of this season.
The director of football finally communicated his decision to Joan Laporta this week having previously rejected the possibility of renewing his contract, which expires on 30 June 2024.

Barça are now considering reinforcing the sports department with the arrival of an executive to help in negotiations on transfers and departures.
The Catalan club have been considering for days the option of signing a figure who does not have as many responsibilities as Alemany but who would be the visible head of an area that needs a lot of people to function correctly.
One of these names would be Antonio Cordón, former sporting director of Real Betis, and a person with close links to Jordi Cruyff from the past. It is an idea that is being studied.
What is clear is that Cruyff will now gain executive weight in the structure until the arrival of someone new to deal with market issues and economic negotiations of transfers and departures in a summer that was already planned by Alemany.
Another option to take Alemany's place that the club has on the table is Tito Blanco, who is very much to Xavi's liking. After his time at Real Oviedo, he joined the training football structure at the Real Federación Española de Fútbol.
