Spain U21 forward Carles Perez has extended his contract with Barcelona after impressing for the first team in the first weeks of the season.

Barca B winger Perez has filled in for the first team due to injuries and has done well, setting up goals and even scoring in the win over Real Betis at Camp Nou.

"FC Barcelona and the player Carles Perez have reached an agreement to extend his contract for two seasons until 30 June 2022," the Catalan club said.

"The signing of Perez's new contract with FC Barcelona took place on Monday at the Club offices in the presence of president Josep Maria Bartomeu, board member Silvio Elías who is responsible for the professional youth teams, Òscar Grau the FC Barcelona CEO, Éric Abidal the technical secretary of the professional teams and his assistant Ramon Planes and the player himself."

Perez was dropped from the squad for the win over Villarreal in midweek following the return of Ousmane Dembele but could return for Saturday's trip to Getafe with Lionel Messi injured.
