Barcelona will let Eric Garcia go this summer
Barça have already opened the door to Ferrán Torres, Ansu Fati and Kessié with the aim of making money that will allow them to implement the viability plan. At the last planning summit, it was also decided that the door will be opened to Eric García in the event that a good offer arrives for all parties. The idea is that Koundé will play more at centre-back this season, so the position would already be well covered with the Frenchman, Araujo, Christensen and the signing of Íñigo Martínez.
Eric García has played very little this season. Xavi has prioritised other players in the centre-back rotation and the home-grown player has even played as a pivot in some matches as a test given his good ball skills. However, the coaches do not see him in this position long-term, and are clear that if they end up signing a specialist right-back, Eric will practically run out of opportunities.
Barça are open to listening to offers for Eric García, a player who arrived on a free transfer from Manchester City, so a sale would give a significant net profit and would also save a salary.
In principle, the centre-back has no intention of leaving, although it will depend on the options he may have for playing time in another sporting project. Eric made a great effort to sign for Barça, rejecting a renewal proposal from Manchester City and in his first year he did enjoy a lot of participation. With the arrival of Xavi on the bench, his role in the team has diminished, although Barça are very satisfied with his professionalism.
Eric García even got a starting place in the Spanish national team under Luis Enrique, but in this new squad from La Roja they are not counting on him, as he has hardly played at Barça. The player will have to make a decision in the coming weeks.
