The club will part ways with the Brazilian defender for a second time

Barcelona have told Dani Alves this morning that he will not be staying at the club from June 30. The Brazilian is on holiday after games with his national team and was waiting for his future to be settled. Now he knows he will have to find a new team to stay fit with until the World Cup at least.

Alves signed for Barcelona last winter with the aim of helping the team under Xavi Hernandez and took the minimum wage he could to help the club. The defender played a lot of minutes in La Liga, but was not included in the Europa League squad. Azpilicueta’s likely arrival and Barcelona’s finances mean that his time is almost up.

Alves was waiting for a chat with Xavi to discuss his future. The Brazilian wanted to stay at Barcelona and was willing to take a deal where the club could let him go in January after the World Cup, but it seems he will be moving on now. Alves has various offers in Europe and will start studying them.

Barcelona are trying to get the Azpilicueta deal done and Sergino Dest is the other right back, who has room to improve and grow. If Barcelona sell him because a tempting offer arrives, then they will have to re-think.
