President Laporta wants good football, minutes for Riqui Puig and trophies

Barcelona are negotiating a one-year contract extension with coach Ronald Koeman. President Joan Laporta met with Koeman's agent Rob Jansen two weeks ago to begin talks and to give continuity to the project the club have started with the Dutchman.

Laporta put several options on the table which would be key in the extension coming into effect. Therefore, it's a renewal conditioned by certain things. The first thing Laporta wants is that the team play good football and don't fall into some of the dynamics of last season. The second halves against Getafe and Athletic Club were not in line with that. The team playing well is key to an agreement.

Another important point is that Koeman wins titles, one of Laporta's obsessions since he returned to the club. The priorities are LaLiga and the Champions League.

A third important aspect is that Koeman follow various strategic points the club feel are important, such as giving Riqui Puig a chance to develop by playing minutes and by seeing if he can help Samuel Umtiti back to his best now that he is staying at the club on a big salary.
