Barcelona considering rescinding Samuel Umtiti's contract unilaterally

The Catalan giants need to lower their wage bill to get Messi's new deal through

FC Barcelona are working to reduce the salary bill at the club. They have one clear priority: rid themselves of Samuel Umtiti, who has a contract until 2023 and earns 16 million euros a season.

If they can’t find a deal with him to leave, with Umtiti having rejected the idea before, Barcelona are considering sacking him.

Barca believe they cannot keep paying the player to not do his job. Umtiti arrived on two million a season net and now it’s eight, a drama for the club given he can’t stay fit.

Barcelona tried to get him to take surgery on his knee problem but he wanted to play in the 2018 World Cup with France and did not listen to the club.

Barca rescinded Matheus Fernandes’s contract a few weeks ago and Umtiti could be next. Of course, he would not be happy about it and would take them to court. Barcelona are not scared by that and believe they could win.
