Barcelona confirm they will appeal Lenglet's red card vs. Girona
The club will fight the French defender's dismissal in the Catalan derby
Barcelona have released a short statement confirming that they will appeal the red card shwon to French defender Clement Lenglet during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Girona.
The ex-Sevilla player was sent off after 35 minutes after clashing with Pere Pons. Referee Gil Manzano turned to VAR to review the incident and sent Lengley off for using his elbow.
"FC Barcelona will present an appeal to the Competition Committee for the red card shown to the player Clement Lenglet in the 34th minute of Sunday’s game at Camp Nou against Girona FC," the Catala club said in a statement.
"The French defender was dismissed after a review using VAR and according to the referee’s report for ‘elbowing an opponent when both players were challenging for the ball.’"
