Barcelona coach Xavi: Pedri is capable of that and much more
Xavi spoke about the Galatasaray win, winning the Europa League, Pedri and injuries
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez spoke to the media after the 2-1 win over Galatasaray on Thursday that booked their place in the Europa League quarterfinals.
Xavi spoke about the win, winning the Europa League, Pedri and injuries:
Winning in Istanbul: "We played really well and with a lot of character. There's a lot of merit in coming from behind here. We knew how and when to attack, we played with patience and we came from behind at a difficult ground. They defended well, man marking. But we did much better than the first leg. It's a deserved win and could have been by more, we were better in both games."
Pedri: "It's a great goal. He's capable of that and much more -- and he's only 19. An absolute privilege. The goal is sublime, of spectacular beauty. He showed a lot of patience to wait."
Europa League: "We're in the quarterfinals of a European competition. We're seeing how difficult [the Europa League] is. They say it's the second division of Europe, but not at all. There are great teams, great coaches. It's hard to win and this victory is a point of inflexion for the project. It's a step forward to keep growing. I don't see (Barça) as favourites, we don't know the competition well. I see Sevilla as favourites."
Injuries: "Pique asked for the change because he had some discomfort and could not run properly. He's had a problem for a month now but has been making a huge effort for the team. We're not thinking about (Madrid) yet. Sergiño had discomfort in his hamstring and we hope it's nothing serious."
