Barcelona coach Valverde has the support of president Bartomeu
Bartomeu never wanted to rush a decision and continues to believe in Valverde
Ernesto Valverde remains FC Barcelona coach. Today... and tomorrow. Presdident Josep Maria Bartomeu is especially annoyed by the "rush" that some people have at the club to push out the coach, who has won the last two league titles.
Bartomeu, though, which is to say Barça, is in no rush to make a decision. And, in addition, he wants Valverde to stay on.
Before making a decision, though, Valverde has told the board that before making any call hee wants as much time possible to reflect and all the information available to analyse.
Remember that the president has twice ratified his support for Valverde in the last three weeks, despite the losses to Liverpool and in the Copa del Rey final against Valencia.
Bartomeu is firmly convinced that Valverde is not solely responsible for the debacle of the last few weeks. If that was the case, Valverde would have been out of a job by now.
Until Bartomeu has spoken with Valverde properly, which hasn't happened yet, he will not make any proposal to the board. Something else should be kept in miind, too: he also needs to speak with sporting director Pep Segura.
Once he has all the information he will make a decision. He will also keep vice presdident and close friend Jordi Mestre's optinion in mind. Mestre has always defended Valverde... and Pep Segura.
Valverde is currently on holiday, isolated from the rumours. He does not plan on leaviing the job. He has said he has the strength to continue. The final decision, though, will be made by Bartomeu. But the president wants him to continue.
