Madrid and PSG represent the biggest risks to the Catalans completing a deal

The signing of Erling Haaland is a priority for Barcelona. They’ve been making movements for months. Both in terms of the sporting director rate abs the president, Joan Laporta, who has a good relationship with the striker’s agent, Mini Raiola.

Barca are prepared for the decisive phase of the negotiations. But the are also aware it won’t be easy to sign a player wanted by Europe’s biggest clubs.

In this sense, two clubs pose serious competition to Barca: Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid’s priority is Kylian Mbappe, knowing that the French forward will almost certainly join them in the summer when his PSG contract expires after not wanting to renew. However they also want to sign Haaland to make Europe’s most feared attack.

Due to the arrival of Mbappe, they wanted to wait a year to sign Haaland in 2023 from Borussia Dortmund, but they’re also conscious that there will be many offers for the Norway striker this summer. Therefore they are ready, without going crazy, to change their plans if they must.

It’s known that president Florentino Pérez has made moves to sound out the signing. PSG will also rival Barca as they see Haaland as a replacement for Mbappe to play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar. The French club have no financial issue and are ready to invest up to €300m in Haaland, starting with his €75m clause this summer.

The race for the goal getter will be long and complicated, with Barca well positioned but aware of the toughness of the competition.
