Barcelona are the club that make the most revenue in the world

Susana Monje, Barcelona vice-president, spoke at the club's AGM for socios on Saturday morning and had good news

Susana Monje, one of Barcelona’s vice-presidents, spoke at the AGM for socios at the Palau Blaugrana to reveal historic revenues. The 679 million euros taken beat the 2014-15 season by 71 million.

“We have beaten the economic forecasts. We have taken a record 679 million euros in revenue, it’s an absolute record in any sporting club in the world,” said Monje.

These 679 million euros are divided in five parts, 18m from socios, 158m from the stadium, 168m from the club’s audiovisual rights, 268m from marketing, and 67m from player transfers and other sources.

Regarding Barcelona’s bills, Monje says they “have gone up to 630 million, with a growth of 4.4 per cent, half of the rate of increase in revenue. It’s a positive balance and we can make investments. The salaries have gone up 16m, mainly for contract improvements and bonuses.”

This is something which worries the club a little bit because “69 per cent of the bills come from sporting salaries. We have lowered them a bit, before it was 73 per cent. If we analyse the cost of the bills and amortisations without salaries, we are looking at 63 per cent, which would be inside the recommended limit. We know that sporting bills are our motor, but our spending is too close to the recommended limit.”
