Barcelona are interested in Napoli defender Koulibaly

Napoli’s visit to face Barcelona in the Europa League is coming and in Italy they are saying the Catalans want the defender Kalidou Koulibaly. He has been performing at a high level for years. La Gazetta dello Sport say Barcelona have ruled out the chance of signing De Ligt because he’s too expensive and are focusing on Koulibaly.
The defender’s contract expires in 2023 and he seems to have no intention of renewing so Napoli might sell him this summer. The club’s president Aurelio de Laurentiis has never wanted to sell him for less than 80 million euros. City bid 60m which was rejected and the Senegalese defender stayed. Now, given the contract situation, 40m might be more realistic.
Barcelona want to sign a defender at zero cost - Christensen - and then invest in a top defender to go with him. Xavi likes Kounde, but he has a release clause of 80m euros at Sevilla, while De Ligt will not leave for less than 70m.
