Barcelona 4-2 Atletico Madrid: Xavi's side move into the Champions League spots

The three points moved Barça ahead of Atletico into the top four in LaLiga

Barcelona came from behind to beat Atletico 4-2 to win a game that had everything at Camp Nou on Sunday.

Yannick Carrasco gave Atletico an early lead but Jordi Alba's brilliant volley, teed up by Dani Alves, drew Barca level.

Gavi headed in after brilliant work from debutant Adama Traore to give Barca the lead and they were 3-1 up by the break.

Gerard Pique's header crashed back off the bar but Ronald Araujo was on hand to score the rebound.

Alves made it four early in the second half but Luis Suarez, on his first game back at Camp Nou with fans, got Atletico back into the game with a header from close range.

Having created one goal and scored another, Alves was then sent off for a high challenge on Carrasco, leaving Barca with 10 men for 20 minutes.

The tension threatened to spill over at times, with Xavi's brother and assistant Oscar sent off and the Barça coach himself booked.

However, Atletico didn't trouble Barça as much as they would have liked as the Catalan club secured the win which moved them about the Rojiblanco into the top four in the table.
