Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla: Pedri clicks the 'Xavineta' up another gear

Pedri's wonder goal lifted Barça above Sevilla in the league table

Pedri scored a stunning second-half goal to lift Barcelona above Sevilla into second in LaLiga.

The midfielder struck the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute as Barça stretched their winning run in the league to six games.

They remain 12 points behind leaders Real Madrid but have a game in hand, although time is running out with just nine games to go for Xavi Hernandez's side.

For large parts of the night it looked like Barça would fail to break down Sevilla, who have the best defence in the league.

Whenever they did break through, they found Bono in fine form in the visitor's goal.

The goalkeeper made fine saves from Ferran Torres, Ronald Araujo and Gerard Pique, who then hit the bar.

Further chances came and went for Ferran and Ousmane Dembele, while Frenkie de Jong sent a head over the bar in the first half.

However, even before his goal, the game was being played through Pedri and he was a worthy match-winner.

Receiving the ball from Dembele, he twice dummied to shoot, dumping Rakitic and Diego Carlos on the ground, before rifling home from 20 yards to seal the three points.
