Barcelona 0-1 Rayo Vallecano: More pain at Camp Nou for Xavi's men

Barça have now lost three times in a row at home in all competitions after Rayo loss

Barcelona lost for the third consecutive time at Camp Nou as Rayo Vallecano beat them 1-0 on Sunday in LaLiga.

Alvaro Garcia scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute and Barca were unable to break down the visitors in the following 83 minutes, plus 11 minutes of stoppage time.

The defeat leaves Barca second, 15 points back from Real Madrid, who now need just one point to win the title, and six clear of Real Betis in fifth. A Champions League spot is still theirs to lose.

Garcia silenced Camp Nou early on when he raced inside from the left, leaving Sergiño Dest, before collecting a pass and beating Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Ronald Araujo had a shot saved and Jordi Alba came close, before a penalty appeal on Gavi was turned down, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang headed wide and Gavi hit the bar.

Xavi made five changes early in the second half, with substitute Memphis Depay having one shot blocked and another tipped over, while Gavi had another penalty shout turned down.

Adama Traore saw an effort saved and Ousmane Dembele another cleared off the line, while Rayo hit the post themselves in stoppage time as Barça sought an equaliser.
