Ernesto Valverde says he does not know how long Lionel Messi will be out for after he injured his thigh against Villarreal on Tuesday.
Messi was making his first start of the season but was forced off at half-time with the knock and is unlikely to face Getafe this weekend.
"I don't know who long he will be sidelined," the Barça coach said. "I hope he will be back soon. In principle, he doesn't have a serious injury, it's just a small strain."
Valverde added: "We have to wait and see how he is today and next week and in function to that we will see how everything goes."
Asked how the absence of the Argentine influences the team, Valverde said that "if he's there, we have certain strengths, and if he's not, we lack a player who can destabilise the opposition. But we have the resources to manage different situations. We have done in the past. It's a setback, but we have to continue."
Barça travel to Getafe on Saturday chasing their first win of the campaign away from home and then host Inter Milan and Sevilla at Camp Nou before the international break.
