The Argentine will not travel to the UK due to a family issue

Guillermo Amor & Javier Bordas will represent Barcelona

The best player in the world will not be at FIFA's The Best gala. Lionel Messi has decided not to travel to London on Monday due to a family problem. The Argentine had planned to go to the ceremony despite not being in the three finalists for the award (he's nominated for the FIFpro XI and the Puskas goal of the year) but in the end will not be able to attend.

Therefore, Barça will be represented in the UK by Javier Bordas and Guillermo Amor. Messi, despite not going, is likely to be including in the FIFpro XI for the year.

Messi's absence adds to Cristiano Ronaldo's. The Portuguese forward is one of the three nominees, along with Salah and Luka Modric. It's not the first time he's missed an award ceremony this year after skipping UEFA's in Monaco when he missed on the top gong to former teammate Modric.

So, The Best gala is without the two biggest footballers in the world. Messi will remain in Barcelona and Ronaldo in Turin.
