Jaume Jardí and Peque got the goals in the win over Gimnastic

Barcelona beat Gimnastic 2-1 in Tarragona on Saturday as they began life without coach Victor Valdes, who's expected to leave the club in the coming days.

With Valdes absent after bidding farewell to the players in the morning, Quim Ramón took charge for the league game against Nastic.

An entertaining first half saw the two sides share 18 chances, with goalkeepers Guillem and Aranu Tenas in decent form at each end.

Barça took the lead through Jaume Jardi but the home side levelled before the break when Zaka finished a clever move from close range following a corner.

The rhythm dropped in the second half but Barça were able to find a winner when Peque scored 10 minutes from time to seal the three points.
