The first training session of Koeman's second season at the helm got underway at 9:30 on Monday morning

Ronald Koeman's Project 2.0 is now underway. Following the PCR tests on Saturday and the physical and medical tests on Sunday, the Dutch coach today oversaw the first training session of the new season. The session, which was on grass and involved ball work, began at 9:30 on Monday morning.

Two players not in attendance were Barça B's Ilias Akhomach and Ramos Mingo, who tested positive for Covid-19 this weekend. They will now self isolate at home for the required period of time.

As we've already reported, the first-team players who are currently recovering from injury - namely Phillipe Coutinho, Ansu Fati, Marc-André Ter Stegen and Ousmane Dembélé - will not join in with the session. Instead, they will continue with their individual recovery plans.

Ansu Fati did not train with the group in Barcelona, and it remains to be seen whether or not he will continue his recovery in Madrid.

Players in attendance

The first team players in attendance on Monday were Ter Stegen, Coutinho, Ansu Fati, Dest, Piqué, Pjanic and Iñaki Peña. Barça B's Yusuf Demir will also take part in Koeman's first team sessions. Ilaix Moriba and Alejandro Balde, meanwhile, will undergo pre-season with Barça B until they sign new contracts.

Plan de entreno de la primera semana Training plan for the first week

The team will train five times this week, with each session beginning at 9:30 AM. They will have rest days on Thursday and Sunday.
