Barça will sign a No.9 this summer even if they miss out on Haaland

There had been some debate but in the end the club have decided to sign a striker regardless

Barcelona will sign a striker whatever happens this summer. The top target is Erling Haaland but, while Barça believe they have a good chance of landing the Borussia Dortmund man, the competition is fierce. Manchester City are well placed as well, which has forced Barça to look at alternatives.

Even though it had been said that if Haaland didn't sign, Barça could look to invest elsewhere, finally they have decided to sign a striker whatever. It will be Haaland or another, but Barça will bring in a No.9. Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak has been strongly linked and the club have good reports, but his season has not been the best.

Darwin Núñez (Benfica), Adeyemi (Salzburg), Patrick Schick (Bayer Leverkusen) and André Silva (Leipzig) are other names that are on the club's agenda. Adeyemi is likely to join Dortmund but things have cooled recently. Lautaro Martinez is also liked, although he recently renewed with Inter Milan. In any case, there's no clear consensus on who it will be if not Haaland. The casting is open.

Meanwhile, the club are working on lightening their attack in the summer. Luuk de Jong is unlikely to stay because his loan ends, while they will try to move on Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite. Memphis has a contract until 2023 and Braithwaite until 2024. It remains to be seen if the club will execute the clause to sign Adama Traore and what will happen with Ousmane Dembele.
