Barça will have to fight Milan for Jorginho!

Both clubs are working on moves for the Chelsea midfielder, whose contract expires on 30 June.

FC Barcelona and AC Milan are currently the two clubs best positioned to sign Jorginho, the 30-year-old Chelsea midfielder whose contract ends on 30th June and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent.

According to SPORT, both clubs have taken the lead in the Jorginho operation and have made important moves that could lead to his signing. The battle is on.

The Blaugrana and the Rossoneri find the player to be an attractive prospect given the potential free agent tag, which would alleviate the budget earmarked for acquisitions.

The deciding factor could end up being the wages that the Blues midfielder would receive. Barça would have their hands tied in that regard. Firstly, they have to reduce the wage bill: there is still a great deal of pressure from Financial Fair Play. Secondly, Italian taxation is much less aggressive in terms of withholding taxes, which allows for an increase in the player's emoluments.

Rossoneri have their noses front on that front. Barcelona would have to count on the desire of the player.

Jorginho could be tempted by the possibility of joining Camp Nou and competing in the LaLiga, gvent that he has already experienced the Calcio. The Azzurri international came through the youth ranks at Hellas Verona's youth academy and played five seasons in Italy's Serie A with Napoli before making the switch to Chelsea in the summer of 2018.
