Barça wants to begin next season with a shirt sponsor

Josep Maria Bartomeu has addressed the issue of Barça's shirt sponsor and believes the club should have one in place before the start of the 2016/17 season.

Until the end date of the contract signed with Qatar Airways, the Blaugrana aren't able to negotiate with another sponsor. Bartomeu explained that the club are continuing talks with Qatar Airways, but they're also negotiating with two other large multinational corporations.

"The objective is to start the season with a sponsor on the shirt," he began, "We're negotiating with Qatar Airways and two multinationals.

"We won't sign anything without being satisfied with what we will sign. We'll continue negotiating and looking for a sponsor.

"We want a good agreement for Barça and so we'll take the necessary time to achieve this."

The contract with Qatar Airways expired on June 30 and the deal broke down as follows, with a five million euros bonus added for the Champions League:

2013/14 season: 30.5 million

2014/15 season: 32 million

2015/16 season: 33.5 million

Bartomeu also revealed that club revenues have increased to 670 million euros and the debt has lowered to 280 million.
