Boada has spent 17 years at the club but will leave when contract expires

Barcelona will cut their scouting department in half virtually, with 40 employees set to be reduced to 20-25 by the end of the summer.

One of the victims of the cull will be the scout co-ordinator Pep Boada, according to RAC1. Boada has been at the club for 17 years but his contract expires at the end of June and won't be renewed.

In a recent interview with SPORT, Xavier Vilajoana, the director in charge of Barça B and the youth teams, spoke about the cutbacks which will be made.

"We have to try and optimise our resources," he said. "I am speaking about human resources, not financial. We are finalising the restructuring of the department, but we're talking about keeping on 20-25 people. There's no fixed number yet. We have to do an exhaustive analysis of how we need to function."

Boada was in charge of the organisation of scouting, both for Barça B and the youth teams. HE joined the club to coach the now disappeared Barça C and has had various roles since.
