Barça to receive €270 million cash injection

| sport

This injection of cash will allow the club to register its 4 new signings ahead of the 2021-22 season

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Barça might soon be able to formalise Leo Messi's contract renewal and register the Argentina captain - along with Sergio 'Kun' Agüero, Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay and Emerson Royal - for next season's campaign.

LaLiga has reached an agreement with the CVC investment fund for a €2.7 billion cash injection. The capital will reach the clubs almost directly in exchange for a 10% share of the commercial business and a participating account of the future profits obtained from this activity.

Spanish teams will receive 90% of the total amount from LaLiga, standing at roughly 2.43 billion euros. In addition, around €100 million will be set aside for women's and non-professional football by the RFEF and the CSD.

Pending ratification of the transaction by LaLiga's Delegate Committee and CVC's investment committee this Wednesday, Barça will receive a 270 million euro cash injection for this and the next few seasons.

Messi's renewal is now imminent

15% of the capital increase could go directly to the players. This represents a real life raft for the club, which is currently trying to restructure the squad to reduce the wage bill of the first team.

Barça, Laporta and Messi will soon be able to breathe that little bit easier.
