Barça's search for a new striker leads them to Hojlund and Gift Orban

The Catalan club want to sign a backup for Robert Lewandowski this summer

Barça are convinced that they will be able to make signings this summer after the economic viability plan presented to LaLiga. The club have very clear objectives and hopes to achieve a strategic addition in attack. Xavi wants to add more goals to his side and Barça want to go for the profile of a young player, who can progress at Spotify Camp Nou and end up becoming a world star.

The chosen candidate is Vitor Roque, a Brazilian international who has just turned 18 and who everyone is raving about. The operation was well underway but has stalled because the bidding is rising to prices that Barça are not willing to pay.

Now, either Vitor Roque asserts his desire to wear Blaugrana or Barça cannot sign him this summer. The Premier League is pushing hard a lot and clubs in England have a financial capacity that Barça do not.

Considering this situation, Barça's director of football, Mateu Alemany, has given orders to look for similar operations with players who are already excelling in Europe. And the club's scouts have followed two players very closely: Rasmus Hojlund (Atalanta) and Gift Orban (KAA Genk).

Both strikers are 20 years old, have played at a high level and, especially in the case of Hojlund, are already much more developed than Vitor Roque. There have been approaches, but for now it has not gone beyond that.

Hojlund is already one of the big players on the market. He has exploded in Calcio and half of the Premier League is very attentive to his future. In Italy, they speak of prohibitive prices, but the reality is that the operation could be adjusted to a more moderate cost.

Because of his characteristics, he is being compared to Haaland and Barça are very clear that he is a footballer who can score goals at the top level and that he has a lot of room for improvement. Signing him later on will be practically impossible.

Gift Orban is a gamble. A completely unknown player until now, the Nigerian moved to Belgian football recently. Genk signed him for €3.5 million and are now rubbing their hands together. His numbers are stratospheric -- 14 goals in 14 games -- both in the Belgian league and in the Europa Conference League.

He is a forward who has also been compared to Haaland due to his rise from Norwegian football to stardom. He would certainly be a much less financially risky operation than Hojlund or Vitor Roque. The scouts who have been to see him have been impressed.

The idea is to sign a young striker, always having the wild card of Aubameyang for a year and almost for free.
