Barça rule out bringing Douglas back from Sporting Gijon loan

The Brazilian right-back will remain at El Molinon despite the injury picked up by Aleix Vidal

Douglas, who is currently on loan from Barcelona at Sporting Gijon until the end of the season, will not return to the Catalan club despite the serious injury suffered by Aleix Vidal, who will be out of action for five months.

The return of Douglas had progressed from a rumour to something of more substance on Sunday, but SPORT are able to confirm that neither Luis Enrique nor anyone at the club, including sporting director Robert Fernandez, is planning to recall the Brazilian.

Despite the dilemma of having to face the rest of the season with Sergi Roberto as the only right-back, inside the club they don't feel Douglas is in condition to come in an do an important job.

Remember that Barcelona can ask the LFP to replace Vidal with a player who is already inscirbed by the LFP or who is out of employment. The other option is to use a B team player.
