The Spanish giants and other big clubs want a breakaway competition

Josep Maria Bartomeu announced that Barcelona had given the greenlight to European Super League plans in his farewell after resigning as the club’s president, and now the plan has come to light.

Europe’s biggest sides in England, Spain and Italy, led by Real Madrid and Barcelona, have signed up to the breakaway project, which is being announced on Sunday night.

UEFA, La Liga, the Premier League and others have said they are going to try anything they can to stop the “cynical project”.

PSG and Bayern Munich have declined to take part in the project.

"We call on all lovers of football, supporters and politicians, to join us in fighting against such a project if it were to be announced," said UEFA.

"This persistent self-interest of a few has been going on for too long. Enough is enough."

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham the English sides involved, plus Atletico in Spain, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juve in Italy.
