Barça-PSG: The final stretch in the Neymar transfer saga

El culebrón Neymar podría llegar a su fin los próximos días / | sport

Barça remain optimistic about securing the Brazilian's signature and next week will be decisive for the summer's biggest transfer saga

Next week could prove decisive to find out what is going tp happen with the Neymar transfer saga. PSG's season officially begins on the 3rd August when they take on Rennes in the French Super Cup.

Neymar, of course, won't be involved in that contest as he's currently suspended.

Barça remain optimistic of completing a deal. Firstly, because Neymar wants the move. Secondly, now that it's become public knowledge the Brazilian asked to leave, PSG must look to move him on.

Whilst his teammates finished their second preseason match of the summer, Neymar continues to work away from the group as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury.

Barça are in no rush to add to their attack either. Antoine Griezmann was brought in to cover the left-hand side of attack, plus Dembele and Coutinho are alternatives options to have in the squad.

Neymar's return is only possible if one of those two players are included in a swap deal to bring the asking price down. Umtiti and Rakitic are other potential makeweights mentioned in recent days.

Barcelona aren't willing to make a huge effort to bring in a player who decided he wanted out two seasons ago. And, let's not forget, is still embroiled in a legal battle with the club.

SALARY LIMITS

The potential arrival of Neymar would once again significantly increase the amount of money spent on wages at Barcelona. One way to avoid this would be to initially sign Neymar on loan with a compulsory purchase option at the end of next season to help ease the strain on the accounts.

Yet the option Barça would prefer is a swap deal involving other players going to PSG. The French club is concerned they won't get enough cash for the transfer is too many players are included.

The relationship between PSG and Neymar isn't good. The club are unhappy at the Brazilian's attitude and question his commitment following their significant investment in his signing. After missing crucial periods of both seasons at PSG, he's now asked to leave.

Now it's time for Mbappe to take centre stage at the club, which means Neymar needs to find a new home.
