The Catalan club are taking measures to help deal with the effects of coronavirus

Barcelona have decided on the conditions they will offer their professional athletes as the club look to manage the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

The board of directors have drawn up a plan that they will not put to the players of the clubs' various professional teams to look over.

After La Liga backed clubs' rights to use ERTEs -- legislation that allows for temporary redundancies or wage reductions -- Barça have decided to knock 70 percent of the players' salaries.

The ERTE will be applicable for as long as the Spanish government maintains a state of emergency, which as things stand will be until April 11, but may be longer.

The reduction will affect players in the football, basketball, handball, hockey and futbol sala teams.

Barça have been forced to take drastic measures given the lack of revenue caused by the lack of football, with Spain's La Liga suspended indefinitely and the Champions League final now postponed.
