The Liverpool striker has a year to run on his deal and a big decision to make

Barcelona are closely following Mohamed Salah's situation. According to The Mirror, the Catalan club have promised the Liverpool forward they will sign him for free next summer. He has not yet renewed his contract at Anfield and his current terms expire in 2023.

So far, the Egypt international has only confirmed that he will remain at Liverpool next season. The Premier League runners-up hope to renew his deal, but he seems more interested in deciding his future when his contract expires.

Salah has been linked with Barça for months. Above all, linked to the possible departure of Ousmane Dembele, who seems closer to Chelsea than ever.

Salah's season ended with disappointment. Despite League Cup and FA Cup success, Liverpool missed out on the Premier League on the final day of the season to Manchester City and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

"Being recognised by the fans and by the sports journalists in the same season is something special that I will never forget," Salah said when the campaign ended.

"I would however give all those personal awards up for a chance at replaying that final, but that is not how football works. I cannot express in words how much we wanted to bring that trophy back to Liverpool but in the end we couldn’t.

"I cannot thank the fans enough for your support. It has been a very long season but a part of me wishes the next one starts again tomorrow."

Negotiations between Liverpool and Salah have dragged on for months without an agreement. The situation has parallels with Dembele's at Barça, with the French forward running his terms down at Camp Nou.

The Athletic, among others, report that Salah's preference is to remain in England, even with Liverpool, and the more than likely departure of Sadio Mane puts pressure on the Reds to tie him down.
