Barça president Laporta prepares personal guarantee for registrations & Cancelo

| sport

It is a similar situation to the one with Jules Kounde last summer

FC Barcelona are due to receive €40 million from German fund Libero, €20m of which should be paid by Thursday 31 August at the latest.

The expected €20m would be used for the pending registrations and the loan without option to buy for Joao Cancelo. But whether this amount is finally received or not, the club is looking for an alternative and this would be in the form of a personal guarantee from Joan Laporta and Ferran Olivé. It is not ruled out that other directors could also be involved.

A year ago, on 28 August, the president Laporta and the club's treasurer, Olivé, guaranteed €11m to be able to register Jules Koundé with LaLiga, so it would not be the first time.

In the event that the German fund complies and pays the €20m this Thursday or before, the calculation that is already being made within the club is that the guarantee should be about €6-8m, because between inscriptions and Cancelo, the total needed could be close to €30m.

If the money from Libero Football Finance does not arrive in time, Laporta and Olivé's personal guarantee should cover the total amount of the operations and reach almost €30m.

Although other alternatives have been studied -- there was talk of an American investment group -- the guarantee would be the most operative right now, with three days to go until the transfer window closes.
