Barça's Marc Guiu: "I've been dreaming of something like this every night"

Marc Guiu was the hero of Barcelona's 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, scoring 33 seconds after coming on in what was his first-team debut. It was a remarkable night for the 17-year-old.

"La Masia works. The club are doing a great job and they have to take advantage of the academy in difficult times like now", reflected Marc Guiu, who encouraged his teammates.

"I tell the youth team to keep working, they all have a great desire to get here. I'm almost out of breath. I think I've been dreaming about this almost every night. It's a great feeling and I'm very happy."

The striker was overjoyed at his magical night: "I can't believe it. I'm breathless. Enjoying the moment. You can't imagine this, but I've been working all my life to take advantage of the opportunities and it's come to me."

And he explained the words that Iñigo Martínez, one of the veterans of the Blaugrana dressing room, dedicated to him: "Iñigo told me that today I won't be able to sleep, but that I should enjoy it.

"Joao Félix controlled the ball, I saw that there was space behind the defence, he gave it to me and I beat Unai Simon to the ball and it's an honour to have scored a goal against him. It's an honour to have scored a goal against a goalkeeper of his calibre."

Guiu also thanked Xavi for the trust he has placed in him, who has asked him to train with the first team since the start of the season: "Xavi has told me to work hard, that the opportunities will come. He told me that I would have a chance and that's how it has been."
