Barca looking at Mikel Arteta as a future coaching option
The Arsenal manager worked as Pep Guardiola's assistant and is having a good season
It’s certainly not for now, because Barcelona’s firm bet is on Xavi Hernandez, but the club are also paying attention to what Mikel Arteta is doing at Arsenal. A club which has suffered in recent years and now are competing to win the Premier League against Manchester City.
Arteta played in Barcelona’s youth categories and formed as a coach alongside Pep Guardiola, as his assistant. There’s no doubts he has the conditions that make him a firm candidate for the Barcelona bench, down the line.
Arteta doesn’t only draw accolades for Arsenal’s football but also his management of the dressing room. He didn’t mind going up against Aubameyang last season until he had banished him from the club. And his relationship with Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff is close.
Arteta is good where he is and he will not move from there for now, and the plan is for Xavi to spend many more years at Barca, but the club have his name written down for the future, he’s earned it.
