Barça look for Hacienda agreement for repayments on signings

Barca have to pay 135 million euros in amortisations (Coutinho, Neto, Griezmann, De Jong, Arthur...)

If Barcelona, like the rest of Spain's sporting clubs, have to close their books on June 30 (La Liga is in talks with the Sports Council about an extension), they will have to do so with big losses.

Given this critical situation, Barça have entered 'economic war' mode and are trying to implement as many measures as possible to reduce their spending. And they're also seeking any way possible to minimise these losses, always within the law.

Repayments

FC Barcelona believe they could 'save' an important amount of money destined for the amortisation of signings. The plan and the debate is the following: if during the state of emergency in Spain, Barcelona have not been able to use their biggest asset (the players) it's reasonable to think that part of the amortisation due on these players can be suspended or can be computed as negative in the economic balance (depreciation).

The club, before taking a final decision, want to raise this with the Hacienda. In no case would it mean not paying the clubs that these players have come from, who will earn what they're due unless a subsequent agreement is reached.

Save 22.5 million

In any case, and according to the budget for the 2019-20 season, Barca have to pay 135 million euros in amortisations (Coutinho, Neto, Griezmann, De Jong, Arthur...). If the state of emergency in place due to the coronavirus pandemic extends beyond two months, as looks likely, they would try to reduce the amount corresponding with that period as the footballers have been inactive. That would be around 22.5 million euros.

If this proposal is well received, the losses on June 30 would be less. Remember that any negative balance which is more than 213 million euros (the profit made by this board since 2011) would have to be endorsed by the socios. And it's no minor issue to have to endorse 15 percent of the spending budget for next season.
